Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Connector Profile, the assessment, your results, and your data.

About the Assessment

Connector Profile is a professional development instrument — not a personality test. It measures observable, behavior-based networking patterns across 8 dimensions, produces two composite scores (Connector Score™ and Opportunity Readiness Score™), and assigns you a Connector Type and Connector Stage.

It is designed for individual professional development and self-reflection. It is not a clinical assessment, employment selection tool, or predictor of job performance. Your results describe your current behaviors — not fixed traits. They change as you develop.

The free Snapshot is 12 questions (~5-7 minutes) and gives you your overall Connector Score™, your primary Connector Type, one key strength, and one development focus area.

The Professional assessment ($24) is 56 questions (~20 minutes) and gives you your full 8-dimension profile, Opportunity Readiness Score™, complete Connector Type analysis, Connector Stage, personalized development plan, and career or sales-specific guidance. It includes a 15-25 page downloadable PDF report.

No. Connector Profile is explicitly not a personality test. Here's the key difference: personality tests measure underlying traits that are generally considered stable across time and context. Connector Profile measures behaviors — what you actually do, how often you do it, and how effectively.

Your Connector Type describes your current networking behavior pattern, not your personality. It can and should change as you develop. We actively discourage using Connector Profile results as a permanent identity label — its value is as a development tool, not a personality descriptor.

No. Connector Profile must not be used for hiring, employment selection, or performance evaluation decisions.

Using assessments in employment decisions typically requires specific technical validation (predictive validity, adverse impact analysis, legal review) that this instrument does not have and is not designed to provide. It is a professional development instrument only. Please see our Terms of Use for the complete usage restriction.

Free Snapshot: 12 questions, approximately 5-7 minutes. Results appear immediately after completion.

Professional assessment: 56 questions, approximately 15-20 minutes. Results appear immediately and a PDF report is also available.

Both assessments are self-paced. You can pause and resume the Professional assessment if needed.

Answer based on your actual current behavior, not what you aspire to do or what you think a "good networker" would do. The assessment is most useful when it reflects your honest current patterns — even if (especially if) those patterns feel like development opportunities.

There are no right or wrong answers. A lower score in a dimension is simply a development opportunity, not a judgment. The goal is clarity about where you actually are today — so you know what to develop.

Scores & Results

Your Connector Score™ is a weighted composite of all 8 dimension scores, normalized to a 0-100 scale. It provides a single summary number representing your overall networking effectiveness as measured by Connector Profile.

Approximate interpretive ranges: 0-39 (Emerging), 40-59 (Developing), 60-79 (Strategic), 80-100 (Influential). These correspond to the four Connector Stages.

The score reflects your self-reported behaviors at the time of assessment. It is not a benchmark or percentile comparison — it is a personal development starting point.

The 8 dimensions measure: Visibility (are the right people aware you exist?), Relationship Building (can you create genuine connections?), Value Creation (do you give before you ask?), Consistency (do you show up repeatedly?), Opportunity Activation (do opportunities actually come from your network?), Network Strategy (are you intentional?), Outreach Readiness (can you comfortably engage new people?), and Follow-Through (do relationships continue after the first meeting?).

Each dimension has a label, a full construct definition, and narrative interpretation in the Professional report.

Yes. The free Snapshot can be retaken at any time. We recommend retaking it or the Professional assessment every 6 months to track development over time.

The Connector Growth Report™ is specifically designed for retakes — it compares your current scores to your previous results and highlights measurable behavioral change over time.
